Welcome to Feathered Companions dot com. My name is Robert Haygood and I have a passion for the long term conservation and welfare of one of nature's most precious gifts - PARROTS. I specialize in helping develop Positive, Mutually Beneficial and Satisfying Relationships between Human(s) and Feathered Companion(s). I have had the opportunity and privilege to help hundreds of Humans and Feathered Flocks.

I know at times, even with the best intentions, Feathered Companion and Human Relationships can seem to "turn upside down". But why? One has done everything by the books but still it seems the relationship continues to "hang in the balance"! And even more dramatizing to an already dismal situation, humans can suffer depression, anger, rage and just plain resentment toward the Feathered Companion(s)!

Hey, I understand and I have been there - believe me! Early in my Feathered Companion journey, I read all the books and tried all the stuff in the books but came to soon realize that the relationship that I had with my Feathered Companions had gotten more rocky and unpredictable. What was I missing? I loved them so much and all I wanted was the best! Why did they seem to hate me so much!

I took a step back and started studying and documenting Feathered Companion behaviors and interactions with each other, humans and other animals. Thus, started my journey to understand Feathered Companion behavior and through time, I was able to develop and fine tune a Feathered Companion and Human Foundational Relationship and Behavior Methodology which I simply refer to as the Flock Methodology.

The Flock Methodology includes proven methods on how to modify undesired behavior issues such as biting, screaming, feather plucking, not following instructions, etc. Additonally, the Methodology includes in-depth details on how to enhance/sustain wanted behaviors and how to lay down a Foundation that will create a Lifetime Sustaining, Harmonious, Positive, Mutually Beneficial and Satisfying Relationship between human and Feathered Companion(s) family members! I personally guarantee that the implementation of this Methodology WILL WORK AND THAT IT WILL PRODUCE POSITIVE RESULTS IMMEDIATELY - on the first day!

Since the Flock Methodology is extensive, I will assess your needs and tailor a class for your specific needs. We will go through the Methodology content together in a hands-on manner. I will cover key foundational principles and then dive into areas that need extensive focus (based on your needs) such as biting, feather plucking, screaming, etc. If we need to address biting, I will first work with your Feathered Companion(s) to get them used to sitting on my hand in a controlled manner (not biting). This is also something I guarantee - to be able to get any Feathered Companion to sit on my hand and not bit within the first hour; after which, we will continue through the class.

Normally, I perfer to perform the class at your house but we can arrange to meet at a different location if desired. A class can last from 1 to 2.5 hours dependent on the given circumstances and focus of the class. A single class is normally adequate time to walk through all the foundational principles of the Flock Methodology and/or to address areas that need to be addressed; however, in extreme cases (years of abuse, neglect or extreme aggression biting), it can take multiple classes but this rare. The cost for a class is $100.00. I also prefer to perform all classes with a properly groomed Feathered Companion - trimmed nails and beak (not sharp or pointy). And also if there are any issues around biting, I prefer that their wings are trimmed.

If needed, I can perform grooming services: nail, beak and wing trimming. I charge $50.00 for a Full Feathered Companion Manicure (wings, nails and beak). If not all 3 are needed, then I charge $45.00 for 1 Manicure Area such as nails or $48.00 for 2 Manicure Areas such as nails and beak. Also, I can perform manicure services separately from a Flock Methodology Class. Additionally, I have pulled hundreds of blood feathers and can pull a Blood Feather if needed and if it was not broken right at the skin. Please see the Product and Services section for more details.

Or perhpaps you just have a Feathered Companion question that does not need a class? I can answer a Feathered Companion question via email if needed for a $15.00 charge. Please see the Services and Products section for more details.

Another area that seemed to be lacking was information on how to properly choose the correct Feathered Companion for a given human household; therefore, I created an in-depth and very detailed Feathered Companion Species Pre-Adoption Assessement. This has been very beneficial in helping create long-term sustaining, successful adoptions because it helps people gain a clear understanding of geneticly coded, unchangable species characteristics and a clear objective view of their household and their lifestyle and how all those ingredients match up against a given species. Believe me, you will not be dissapointed. It is not just a few questions but an in-depth study of key Feathered Companion characteristics and how they match up with key human charactertics. For example: one area of the assessment looks at the different energy levels of the different species and how they would match the different energy levels within your lifestyle and household - it might sound simple in theory but it is not and this area must be carefully evaluated at many different objective levels. This Feathered Companion Species Pre-Adoption Assessment is normally held at your house and is $100. It normally takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to completely go through and complete the assessment. After the assessment, you will have solid, objective information to base your Feathered Companion adoption on and the Assessment will provide a best species match for your family based on your answers and feedback to the assessment.

Proper nutrition is a key contributor to a Feathered Companion's health (mind and body) and thereby a key contributor to their mood and behavior. Therefore, as part of a balanced behavior modification process, it is critical that we provide our Feathered Companions with a diet that provides proper and balanced nutrition.

A properly balanced diet requires a variety of complex carbohydrates, amino acids, protein, vitamins and minerals; many of these ingredients can only be found in fresh and cooked foods. I offer for sale, a completely cooked and ready to serve Feathered Companion Mix. This mix is the result of years of research and fine tuning. It is bursting with all the key components mentioned above. Just add a high quality seed mix and fresh fruits/veggies to make a nutritionally packed diet for your Feathered Companion(s). I sell the cooked food mix for $5.00 per 25 ounce container. The cooked food mix will last for a while because once a Feathered Companion is transitioned to a properly balanced diet; they will actually consume less food.

I live in Conway, Arkansas and will travel around 30 miles or so (Little Rock, Greenbrier, etc.) outside of Conway without having to charge any additional fees for gas. Outside of a 30 mile radius, I charge $4.00 per 22 miles driven on top of the charges denoted above due to high gas prices. So if you are in need of the Flock Methodology (behavior modification, feather plucking, screaming, etc.) Class, a Manicure Service, and/or the Food Mix just send me an email and please include what you need, your location, along with a few convenient times for you and I will get back to you on the same day to confirm a time. Please note that there is a $35 minimum order on food if it is the only item requested; however, if food is purchased with either a Flock Methodology class and/or any of the manicure services then there is no minimum order on food. The Food Mix is delivered frozen and will last for about 6 months in the freezer. To serve, just allow it to thaw out in the refrigerator or microwave the appropriate food portion right before the food is served. Thawed food will last about 4 days in the refrigerator.
